What is Gleaning?

In the days of Ancient Israel, farmers were instructed to leave the corners of their felids untouched so that the widows, orphan, and other needy individuals could come and glean produce. Today, thousands of pounds of fresh produce on farms across America is thrown away.

This food is perfectly edible and great for you but it goes to waste. The farmers simply do not have the time or the connections to give it away and many would have to assume a good deal of liability to open their farms to outsiders.

Bushels of Blessings exists to save this food from being thrown away and then distribute it to local organizations who feed hungry people. Because of the work of volunteers, Bushels of Blessings has already distributed thousands of pounds of fresh produce to 30+ non profit emergency food relief organizations.
